Cyber bullying is one of newest forms of bullying. Cyber bullying takes places using electronic devices such as cell phones, computers, and tablets. 1. Teach Yourself

The first step in preventing cyberbullying is to fully understand exactly what it is and how and where it can occur.

3. Keep Photos "Family Friendly"

Think before you post that picture of you drinking with friends or posing in sexy pictures of yourself. Only post pictures that you would want your parents, grandparents, and the rest of the world to see. Inappropriate pictures can be used by bullies to harass you and make life your life miserable.

4. Only Open Messages From People You Know

Never open any email, Facebook or other messages from people that you don't know. These messages may contain viruses  that can infect your device. Many of these viruses will collect your personal information. Email security is a major concern and it not always obvious when your email account has been hacked or tampered with.

5. Don't Forget to Log Out

It may make your life easier by saving the passwords on your computer or phone but by doing so you expose yourself. If you loose your cell phone or let someone else use your computer they can access all your information and pose as you online.

6. Posting Can Affect Your Future

Unfortunately with today's technology we have a tendency to post everything and anything that is on our minds. However, by doing so it may compromise your reputation. You may not realize how many people will see what you post and will judge you based on it. Human resource departments, school administrations now check online before accepting or hiring someone which is why its so important to think before you post anything.

7. Raise Cyber bullying Awareness

Many people are not fully away of what cyberbullying is and what it encompasses. You can create a program, build a campaign, or host an event to bring awareness to cyber bullying. Bringing awareness to others is a great step to preventing cyber bullying

Almost all social networking sites give users the ability to restrict access to your online profile to only people you know. It is important not to give access to people you don't know to protect yourself. this is called social network privacy.

One way to protect you against unwanted bullying or harassment is to regularly "Google" yourself. Type your name into any major search engine to make sure no personal information or photos come up. If you do find anything that you want removed, take action immediately.

Don't be a cyber bully yourself. Treat others with respect and how you would want to be treated. Don't harass others or say mean things online to others.
