Cyber-criminals stole more than a half-billion dollars last year, relying on a variety of scams including fake sales, extortion, and scareware, according to the latest figures from the Internet Crime Complaint Center.

Mac OS X Malware Found on Angolan Activist's Computer
Independent security researcher Jacob Appelbaum discovered the new and previously unknown backdoor on an Angolan activist's Mac while at The Oslo Freedom Forum, Appelbaum wrote on Twitter. He discovered a second variant on another activist's computer shortly afterwards.

Fake YouTube Page Targets Chrome Users
Researchers uncovered a fake YouTube page which targets only Google Chrome users. If a user clicks on the fake video player or any of the ads on the fake YouTube page, the site prompts the user to install a browser extension into Google Chrome, Julian Sobrier, a senior security researcher at Zscaler, wrote on the Zscaler ThreatLabz blog.
