Was the 2013 World Press Photo of the Year faked with Photoshop?
It turns out that the 2013 World Press Photo of the Year -- the largest and most prestigious press photography award -- was, in actual fact, a fake. The World Press Photo association hasn't yet stripped the photographer, Paul Hansen, of the title, but presumably it's just a matter of time. Rather than discussing the politics of photo manipulation, though -- is it faked, or is it merely enhanced? -- we're going to look at how Hansen managed to trick a panel of experienced judges with his shooping skillz, and how a seasoned computer scientist spotted the fraudulent forgery from a mile off.

My first day as a Glasshole: How Google Glass looks from the inside
Few year-away products have been the subject of as much speculation as Google Glass. After a day of hardcore use, it is clear that they are both ground-breaking and far from finished. David lets you in on the pros, cons, and future of Glass. Perhaps we'll even answer why everyone's so excited about Glass when it seems like nothing more than a glorified camcorder.

Xbox 720 to be announced next week, but we probably won't find out how much it costs or what it looks like
Next week, Microsoft will be unveiling its next generation gaming console in Redmond, Washington. All eyes are on the so-called Xbox 720 to see if it can live up to the high standard Sony set with its announcement of the PS4 earlier this year. With this event happening so close to the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), many of us are curious about what will be shown on the 21st, and what will be saved for gaming's biggest trade show. Just in time, Microsoft reportedly said the console won't require an always-on connection.

Nvidia's Shield, priced at $349, looks like a niche gaming device for technophiles
Receiving an upgrade from the "Project" status and now simply known as Shield, Nvidia's new handheld Android gaming device that also streams games from your PC will be available to pre-order in less than a week, and finally has a price. James explores just exactly who might enjoy the device. Now, check out why some of us think it'll fail, and why some of us think it'll succeed.

The Bitcoin network outperforms the top 500 supercomputers combined
For some, Bitcoin conjures ideas of a utopian decentralized currency, but many others these days think of it as a quick way to make a buck. Countless hordes of Bitcoin prospectors are now using their computers to "mine" for Bitcoins by solving for specific hashed values. Now, Grant explains that the processing power of these miners is estimated to be six to eight times greater than the top 500 supercomputers combined. For such a powerful network, though, is there any money left to be made?
