Tips to avoid viruses - Tips4pc

Different Types of Computer Viruses

Depending on the personality of your company's IT department, it can be pretty belittling sometimes to ask them for help. As you notice your computer is running pretty slow, you call them up and ask for help.
"I think I may have a virus."
"Please, that's like saying a Jedi Knight has powers. Be more specific."
"Uhhh. Computer Virus?" You don't know what it is but you know something is Wrong!

Different Types of Computer Viruses

** A virus is any unwanted program that infects your computer to decrease performance or cause damage.
**Viruses can attach to your computer by opening shady email attachments or visiting sites that aren't trusted.
** A Trojan is one of the different types of computer virus that gains access to your files by sneaking into your computer's hard drive. After the Trojan is inside your computer it infects it so that secret programs can then be run. Just like you don't invite a big wooden horse full of the enemy into your city, Trojans can be turned away with antivirus and antispyware programs.
**Different types of devices that attach to a computer to monitor activity and keystrokes are known as spyware. The weird thing about spyware is that it is not always employed under illegal backgrounds. Sure, hackers may look to get into your information or bombard you with pop up adds but employers also use it to monitor employees. You may think you've just gotten away with participating in that 5 hour online fantasy baseball draft but its documented somewhere.
**Just like finding one in your apple, a worm in your network can be annoying and distasteful. Worms are different types of computer viruses that get into the network community and bog down the system for all users.
** Adwares also slow down your computer and attack you while browsing the Internet. As lucky as you may think you are being the 1,000,000th visitor to a site, the person after you and the next 1,000,000 after them get the same offer. Finally, malwares get into your computer and are armed to do malicious acts.
It doesn't matter which virus you may think you're at risk from, proper action should be taken to avoid them all.

Protect Your Computer

I personally use Avast to protect my computers. You pay for what you get. It is as simple as that! They have a trial version to download for free. I highly recommend this for any non techie person as it just works in the background.

I have tried many different free antivirus and internet security programs and they do work in certain circumstances. If you are a mild user checking emails and buying on Ebay, as long as you know what emails to open, you could be safe with a free program.

How Can I Get In Trouble on Limewire or P2P Programs?

There are a number of ways to illegally obtain the latest pirated movie, video, or game available on the Internet. One of the most popular ways is peer-to-peer software such as Limewire. PTP sites are popular because the host of the website is not responsible for content delivered between members; they simply give them a forum to do so. Whether you are downloading or uploading content, you may be asking yourself "How can I get in trouble on Limewire?"

Music and movie studios lose millions of dollars per year via the illegal distribution of their content. Some people think they should be happy with the millions that they do make and choose to take the chance to acquire said content. If you are one of these users who ask, "How can I get in trouble on Limewire" the answer is pretty simple. Recording and production studios have millions of dollars and high priced lawyers on retainer to fight against illegal delivery of their creative content. If you are distributing files on Limewire, the studios will search for the content that they own licenses to. They will subsequently download the file, thus acquiring your external IP address.

Through the use of their high-powered attorneys, they will obtain a warrant to obtain your personal data. Soon after acquiring your address, you can expect a knock at your door in the form of papers serving you for a civil suit. Many people have been forced to settle out of court for thousands of dollars for even one illegal download. The next time you complain about paying $7 to see a movie, remember that obtaining it illegally could be a pricier investment.
If you insist on using a program such as Limewire or Utorrent make sure you have the right protection.
